NED/Trustee

Like many people who have spent a long time doing one sort of job, I have regularly thought hard about what else I could do, and when.

As a lawyer, my work has been to advise about risk and help others make decisions to avoid or resolve disputes particularly in relation to real estate. As a leader of my team, I have collaboratively devised the strategy for its growth and success, helping many great lawyers in their development along the way.

To do the right thing...

In recent years I have come to understand that my experience could also be used in the boardroom, with the added responsibility of making reasonable decisions. I can help with strategic issues, to reflect on and address risk, to appropriately challenge where necessary. I have also reflected on what has kept me at Russell-Cooke LLP (www.russell-cooke.co.uk) all of my legal career. Key has been its core tenet – to do the right thing.

In 2021/2022 I completed the FT’s Non-Executive Director (NED) Diploma - a Pearson Level 7 (Master’s level) Advanced Professional Diploma.

Member of...

After careful reflection and many discussions about the sort of organisation with which I could enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship, I have recently (Spring 2024) joined the board of Lancing College (https://www.lancingcollege.co.uk/) as a director/governor/trustee. It is a fantastic organisation. Having helped so many people develop their legal career, it seems a natural continuum to be closely involved with a great school offering a great education. Particularly appealing to me is its ethos which it sums up like this: “Be inspired, be brilliant, be you”.

I am open to further, appropriate NED appointments. Do get in touch if you think I might help you as a NED, and to ask for my resumé – jason@jasonhunterconsultancy.co.uk.

My mediation work

There is a cross-over with my mediation work. From time to time I have been put forward to use my mediation skills in helping deadlocked companies (those owned 50/50) move forward from disputes. This is also something you could get in touch about.
